Street organs
The hall of the street organs immerses visitors in the magical atmosphere of the historic Piazza del Popolo of Cesena. It is a section devoted to the so-called “Italian School of Mechanical Music”, where the mechanics of the instruments are derived from hollow wooden barrels, with thousands of nails that can actuate the hammers that strike the strings, creating the melody. In the hall are exposed several specimens of portable organs, called “spalloni” and a particular barrel piano of Italian production of the early 20th century of the firm Veronese De Vecchi.
